Goccoing

Last night I did some Gocco printing.  I feel like every time I do some printing I learn something new.  I needed to print more of my Burrito cards because Valentine's day is coming up and I'd nearly run out.  Last time I printed these, I was happy with the end result, but a bit disappointed in the difference between my original design and the print.  Because of this I decided to redraw the design and burn another screen.  I did that and the screen looked great, so I inked up and did a print.  Disappointingly it was really blobby.  Thinking that the only thing that was the same this time was the ink, I scraped all of it off the screen and reinked with a second tube of red ink that I had.  Tada!  Perfect print!  Just as much detail as the original drawing.  I guess the first ink tube was off, a bit of oil came out of the tube before ink when I squeezed it, but I'd read about that happening so I didn't think it was a problem, I wish I'd realised last time!

Places

In an effort to blog more, I'd like to tell you about some of my favourite places in the world. Or rather, show you...

First up, here's is glorious Brockwell Park in London.  I live quite close to the park and I adore it.  In summer it's fields are ablaze with green, the lido is sparkling, the ducks are quacking, the cherry blossoms are out.. in winter, when it snows, the expanse of white is breathtaking.  The park is so massive that you can be in complete serene quiet one moment, only the sound of crunching snow under foot, then walk a moment or two and come across literally hundreds of people sledging down the hill.  On the way you might pass someone on cross country skiis or a snowboard.  It's an amazing place.

Afternoon Storm

Hello hello, I hope you're having a nice weekend.

It's been pretty rainy here in London lately.  Last week we had a big storm one afternoon.  I wanted to share with you these photos I took after getting soaked in about 30 seconds of the heaviest rain I've ever seen!

New Brooches

I added a couple of new brooches to the store today, some teeny weeny pencils!  These guys go along with the pencil necklaces already in the store and they come in red and blue.

The brooches are so tiny that I've made the shipping free if you purchase them with any other item.  So if you're purchasing a gift for someone it's a good chance to grab yourself a cheeky little something too!

Tape!  Never enough tape.  If you get something in the post from me it will have some combination of these on it!  Mostly japanese masking tape bought from here.

A couple of knitting projects I have on the go.

Stamps. A rubber band ball I've been making for a few months just from rubber bands that the Postman leaves outside our building.  One of my favourites of my (many) snowdomes.

Pencils in a pencil cup. And a teeny pinecone from Scotland.

Lists. Mustard foldback clip. My favourite pencil at the moment.

A great dish that combines my love of aviation with my love of melamine!

Holiday

Hello hello,

I hope you had a nice relaxing Christmas break!  We had a great time in Cambodia and a few days in Kuala Lumpur too.  Things got off to a bumpy start when our flight was delayed due to the snow.  We left 12 hours after we were scheduled to, which meant that we missed our connecting flight from Kuala Lumpur to Phnom Penh.  All airport hotels were booked which meant we had a lovely evening in KL airport ahead of us, which was fine until we got kicked out of the airport because they were fumigating it!  Anyway, boring transit stories aside, we did have a great time!  The highlight was probably the few days that we hired a motorbike in Kampot and zoomed around the countryside, lots of fun!  Here's some photos from the trip...

Kampot Zoo had a lot of beautiful animals in very small cages that mostly looked they hadn't been cleaned for a long time :/

This little otter was the cutest!  Strange to go to Cambodia to see an otter!
